SCK Group Marks a Milestone in the Sri Lankan Maritime Industry

SCK Group has officially etched its name in the history of the Sri Lankan maritime sector following the successful arrival of its first international merchant vessel, the “RUDOLF,” at the Port of Colombo on the 13th. This achievement was particularly significant as the group managed the entire logistics lifecycle for a major project by Melwa Cement Private Limited, a subsidiary of the Melwa Group. SCK Group demonstrated its comprehensive operational capacity by handling every stage of the supply chain, moving imported machinery from complex maritime operations through to final inland transportation.

This milestone represents a remarkable journey for the group, which began its operations twenty-five years ago as a specialized unit in the Sri Lankan customs clearing sector. Over the past two and a half decades, it has evolved into a well-known conglomerate consisting of several private companies. Today, the group is rapidly expanding its footprint both nationally and internationally, providing high-level services in import and export container transport, sea and air freight operations, as well as construction and event management.

The historic arrival of the "RUDOLF" was celebrated with a special commemorative ceremony at the Port of Colombo, where tokens of appreciation were exchanged to mark the vessel's maiden call for the Melwa Cement project. The event was attended by a distinguished gathering of industry leaders and officials, including Mr. Asanga Deshapriya, the Director General of Merchant Shipping, and Captain Nirmal Silva, the Harbour Master of the Sri Lanka Ports Authority. They were joined by senior representatives and the Board of Directors from both the Melwa Group and SCK Group, including Captain Deshapriya Gunawardena, to witness this landmark moment for the company.
